Cemeteries - Summer Smoke
Gorgeous. Great find, Tyler.
empty spaces.
I took an amazing visual trip with Cemeteries back in March. It will be memorable forever. Since then I’ve been extremely eager for new material to arrive. Kyle Reigle contacted me a few days ago and was nice enough to share this wondrous track from his soon to be released album, The Wilderness.
This is six and a half minutes of pure bliss and love, from a musician who is completely conscious of the blogosphere and it’s ‘one hit wonder trap’. He truly values patience and strives to makes sure that each recording has the appropriate amount of thought and detail. The result is an ultra relaxing, somewhat meditative sound that seems to carry deep influence from early Beach House albums, such as Devotion.
Slow Magic - Sorry Safari
That intro is the tits. And the jam, well, as smooth sailing as that bro’s curly mullet.
This mysterious project just fell into my lap. And the grace at which it hit my hears was both surprising and relieving. It’s possible this unknown imaginary friend hails from Iceland, but then again, it’s quite uncertain.

so excited for new real estate, and i’d have to agree, they have successfully made it to my top 5 favorite bands!
Real Estate - It’s Real
Saw these dudes just the other night here in DC just slayin’. Laying down the jams that scream of good times. Also, to be frank Real Estate is one of my top 5 favorite bands. This new jam comes off their upcoming record set to be released this October. Hearing many of these new songs this past Sunday, October can’t come soon enough. Granted I am in no hurry for the summer to end but I am in a hurry for this album.
You can download this for the basement price of your email address from Domino Records.
Consider this downloaded. Sweet to see my boys IGIF featured in the still! If y’all grab this appy, be sure to tune in to some YVYNYL action when you get there.
The Hype Machine iPhone app, “Hype Radio” is here!
Very excited to finally have this in the store. The app turns music blogs into mobile radio stations. It’s a new way to experience the music that bloggers are writing about - a lean-back experience that lets the new stuff come to you.
”; john” is the latest iamamiwhoami video and the longest to date. I’ve been following this weirdness since the mystery began with short cryptic videos in 2009. It wasn’t until a year later in December 2010 that the mystery of who the creepy blond woman behind the project was solved and it became known as Swedish electronic singer Jonna Lee. Pretty brilliant use of social networking & the advantages of viral videos. Certainly had many music enthusiasts, myself included, curious for a while. Now the question, is did they wait too long to release this full-length video and lose the interest of people?
I’m still intrigued and want to hear more.
Library of Congress builds the record collection of the century
The sounds of everybody from Duke Ellington to Jelly Roll Morton to obscure surfer dudes are preserved at a Library of Congress facility in Virginia. It’s our recording legacy, and it will soon be more accessible.
